THE TECHNIQUE

This section of the site, divided into several sub-chapters, is the most consequential of HOROPEDIA's, through which we break down each element and component of a watch.

This covers how they are designed and manufactured, taking into account their production method, as well as their function and how they are assembled and finished.

THE WATCH CASE

The watch case is the component that protects the movement, dial and hands of a watch.

BRACELETS AND BUCKLES

The bracelet and the clasp are the two components that hold a watch case to the wrist of its wearer.

THE DIAL AND DISPLAY

The dial and display is the part of the watch where the indications it delivers can be read.

THE MOVEMENT

The movement is the engine of the watch. It is where we will find the gears and springs allowing its good functioning.

THE SETTINGS

The regulator is one of the three main organs of a movement. It is responsible for letting the energy out at the desired rate.

DECORATIONS AND FINISHES

The decorations and finishes exist mainly to embellish a watch. Their technical added value is secondary.

SURFACE TREATMENTS

The surface treatments allow partly to protect from oxidation but also, besides embellishing, to improve technical characteristics.

ASSEMBLY & QUALITY CONTROL

Assembly and quality control are important manufacturing processes that must be perfectly mastered.
