MARCH 2025

WWG25 collaboration

We are thrilled to announce that Horopedia Foundation has been chosen to participate in the “In The City” program of Watches and Wonders 2025, as part of the Watchmaking Village — a cultural and educational hub open to the public.

This recognition by the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation directly aligns with one of the core missions of the Horopedia Foundation: to preserve, promote, and pass on watchmaking culture, knowledge, and craftsmanship to future generations.

Since its creation in February 2023, Horopedia Foundation, recognised as a non-profit public interest organisation, has been working to ensure that watchmaking know-how and history remain accessible to all. Through Horopedia.org, the first online video encyclopedia on watchmaking, the Foundation shared its vision of preserving and sharing valuable horological knowledge. We published over 100 multilingual documentaries on watchmaking schools, museums, tools, components, and the mechanical principles behind them. Nearly 1,000 pages of content have been created covering technical terms, definitions of complications, tools, and historical anecdotes about key inventions. 3D and 2D visual materials and pedagogic illustrations were created to facilitate understanding of complex horological concepts.

We listed global horological institutions, from schools to museums, fostering a deeper connection to the world of watchmaking, and created a dedicated section that describes in detail all the main watchmaking professions and where to learn them in Switzerland.

All of the content of horopedia.org is available in French, English, and German, and is not only used by Swiss watchmaking schools but also made available to the broader public.

Sharing the Knowledge

Taking part in Watches and Wonders In The City offers Horopedia another unique opportunity to engage directly with the public through educational activities hosted in the Watchmaking Village. Following our previous engagements with EPHJ – The World of High Precision and Geneva Watch Days, joining Watches and Wonders 2025 cultural program is the next logical step in the growth and development of Horopedia as the main hub for preserving and sharing horological culture and knowledge in Geneva.

By participating in the 2025 program, Horopedia highlights the cultural dimension of watchmaking, showcasing both the technical mastery and artistic skills behind every timepiece. It is an opportunity to reinforce the importance of preserving horological knowledge and craftsmanship and to inspire future generations of watchmakers, artisans, and enthusiasts.

Mission Driven by Public Interest

As a neutral and independent Foundation, financed exclusively through donations, Horopedia is committed to achieving tangible results by supporting the long-term success and visibility of the watch industry. By participating in Watches and Wonders Geneva, we continue this work in a public and accessible format.

We are grateful for this opportunity and for the trust placed in us by the Watches and Wonders Geneva Foundation.

We look forward to welcoming you at Village Horloger, at the Pont de la Machine from April 2 to 5, from 10 to 17.30 CET, and April 3, from 10 to 19 CET.

The Foundation governs Horopedia.org, the first online video encyclopedia on watchmaking. The platform was launched in 2022 and quickly gathered unanimous support within the community.

To date, over 100 multilingual documentary films on museums, watchmaking schools, watch tools and components, and the mechanical principles behind their work can be found on Horopedia.org. To enhance its educational mission, the platform also incorporates visual pedagogic materials to facilitate a better understanding of the provided information. The website features nearly 900 pages with detailed definitions of watchmaking terms and historical anecdotes about significant horological inventions.

Horopedia.org meticulously covers all facets of the fascinating horological industry in French, English, and German. It offers detailed definitions of tools and complications, 3D images of movements, and thorough video explanations of component production, their history, and functions in a watch. A dedicated section of the website lists horological institutions, including schools and museums in Switzerland and worldwide.
