LEATHER

Leather is a material very much used in watchmaking. Its origins are diverse and its price varies greatly from one type to another. We can classify leathers in two categories between natural leathers, animal and synthetic leathers.

In the past, a long time ago, leather was used to make watches dustproof.

In watchmaking, leather is mainly used for watch straps. There are many variations in terms of origin and color.

Advantages:
Leather allows a wide range of choices in texture and color. Moreover, it is possible to choose the origin (natural or not).

Inconveniences:
Leather is a material that is not wear-resistant. You have to take care of it (more than a steel bracelet). Moreover, the origin of the leather can be a problem in a society that is very careful about the treatment of animals and their resources.
