BUFF STICK

A buff stick is a piece of wood, usually in the shape of a batten, which is often covered with abrasive paper and sometimes leather.

Historically, buff sticks were often covered with emery paper. Since the beginning of the 21st century, they have also been regularly covered with diamond paper. This diamond paper allows the material to be smoothed more finely.

There are also skin buff sticks, covered with leather, which can be used as a finger during assembly without leaving the trace of a real finger. Since the beginning of the 21st century, these skin buff sticks have been somewhat replaced by thimbles.
