THE SETTINGS
The setting consists in a large part of adjusting all the components of the escapement. A relatively large part of this work will be the escapement-making, that is to say the adjustment of the anchor, in particular with its pallets that can be taken out or put in, but also the adjustment of the anchor on the balance wheel. The adjustment and balancing of the balance wheel will also be an important part and also the centering and flattening of the balance spring.

THE ESCAPEMENT-MAKING
The escapement-making consists of adjusting the various angles of the anchor. In particular by entering or leaving the pallets.

STATIC SETTING
Static setting consists of adjusting the speed of the balance wheel in various positions to a normal amplitude, i.e. more than 270 degrees.

DYNAMIC ADJUSTMENT
The dynamic adjustment consists of adjusting the balance of the balance at low frequency, less than 180 degrees, in the four vertical positions.

THE FREQUENCIES IN WATCHMAKING
There are different watch frequencies. Some are suitable for a marine chronometer, others for pocket watches and others for wrist watches.

ADJUSTING MACHINES
There are different setting machines from the most artisanal, sometimes still perfectly usable, to the most modern technology according to the quantity and the level of manufacture that one wishes.

LUBRICATION OF THE MOVEMENT
The lubrication of the movement and in particular of this part of the adjustment is very important. We will not apply the same lubrication to the pallets of the anchor as to the axis of the balance wheel. Some points will also be voluntarily not lubricated.

THE ANTICHOCS
The anti-shock devices that appeared in almost all mechanical watches from the middle of the 20th century have reduced the number of after-sales service interventions. There are a few different ones.
