OVERBANKING

Overbanking is a malfunction that can occur in the escapement, causing the immediate halt of the movement.

Overbanking occurs if the lever pivots, due to a shock, from one banking pin to the other while the balance wheel is performing its free oscillation.

When the balance returns to its neutral position, the impulse pin will strike the back of the pallet fork, resulting in the immediate halt of the watch.
