THE COLUMN WHEEL

The column wheel is a mobile found on high quality chronographs. This mobile is set in motion when the pushers are manipulated in order to coordinate the different levers to carry out the starts, stops and resets.

The most prestigious split-seconds chronographs are always equipped with a second column wheel to manage the levers of the split-seconds mechanism. This additional column wheel also has an additional pusher that can be seen on the outside of the case.

Since the middle of the XXth century, chronographs of more current quality exist and are equipped with a shuttle easier to manufacture than the system with column wheel.
