BOXWOOD

Boxwood is a hard, dense, and homogeneous wood with very few veins or knots. It is highly valued in watchmaking for cleaning operations but above all for decoration and polishing. Perlage, for instance, can be done using a small boxwood peg and abrasive. In traditional watchmaking, the final shine of an anglage is often achieved with a boxwood stick and fine abrasive, and the leaves of pinions are traditionally polished using a boxwood wheel.
