Maison des Arts & de la Culture Horlogère (MACH)
From the online encyclopaedia to a physical home
Since its establishment in 2023, the Horopedia Foundation has been dedicated to preserving, transmitting and promoting watchmaking know-how. With horopedia.org, the first online video encyclopaedia devoted to watchmaking, it provides the general public with neutral and accessible content that highlights the richness of this universe.
Today, this mission is taking on a new dimension with the Maison des Arts & de la Culture Horlogère (MACH): an iconic venue in the heart of Geneva and the physical counterpart to the digital encyclopaedia. The MACH will not be a traditional museum, but a vibrant and open centre where tradition and innovation come together to shape the future of watchmaking.

An ideal setting in the heart of Geneva
The MACH will be housed in an iconic building in the Quartier des Banques, a central and accessible location that is part of the cultural and tourist route between the Old Town and the Parc des Bastions.
With its 1,250 m² spread over four floors, this public-interest venue will offer a rich and varied journey in a modern, light-filled space.
Watch the video below to visit the building with Marc André Deschoux, founder of the Horopedia Foundation.
An educational journey through time
The visit will be designed as a true journey:
Ground floor

Reception, café, shop, and a space dedicated to schools and professional watchmaking training.
First floor

An educational and thematic journey to understand the professions, skills, and mechanical principles of watchmaking.
Second floor

A chronological journey retracing five centuries of watchmaking history, from its origins to contemporary creations.
Third floor

Temporary exhibitions and an auditorium for conferences and events.
Showcasing watchmaking heritage
Through exceptional exhibitions, the MACH will showcase treasures from the collections of Geneva’s Museum of Art and History (MAH), other Swiss museums – both public and private – and more.
Historic watches and clocks, fine enamels, astronomical timepieces and mechanical masterpieces will illustrate the human and technical story of timekeeping.
An immersive and educational experience
Each object on display will be presented in relation to the skills and professions connected to it. The experience will be enriched with interactive devices, videos, sounds and recreated atmospheres, immersing visitors in the very heart of the watchmaking universe.
The MACH will also fulfil an educational mission by presenting the watchmaking training programmes available in Switzerland and inspiring new vocations. It will play a key role in passing on know-how to younger generations and to all those wishing to deepen their knowledge of watchmaking professions.
A cultural hub serving Geneva and watchmaking
The MACH will be a place for exchange and collaboration, fostering encounters between enthusiasts, professionals and the curious.
It will actively contribute to enhancing the reputation of Geneva and Switzerland as the world capital of watchmaking and as a temple of unique craftsmanship.
Its opening to the public is planned for 2026.

Support MACH
The realisation of this ambitious project also depends on the generosity of those who wish to contribute to the preservation and transmission of watchmaking heritage.
