CLICK

The click is a lever fitted with a finger that remains in contact with the teeth of a wheel under spring tension. It allows the wheel to rotate in one direction while preventing it from turning backwards. The winding click, for example, enables the ratchet wheel to turn when winding the watch but blocks it from reversing, thus retaining the energy stored in the mainspring.
