SWISS WATCH INDUSTRY EMPLOYERS’ ASSOCIATION (Convention Patronale – CP)

Founded in 1937, the Association is one of the two umbrella organisations representing the Swiss watchmaking industry. While the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry (FH) focuses on economic and commercial aspects, the CP is responsible for matters related to labour and employment.

    Organisation

Today, the CP oversees five regional employers’ associations, to which around 500 member companies (voluntarily) are directly affiliated, representing 82% of jobs in the watchmaking and micromechanics sector.

    Core Missions

    1. Collective Labour Agreement (CLA):
In partnership with trade unions, the CP establishes the CLA, which governs working conditions (wages, working hours, and workplace safety) within affiliated companies.

    2. Vocational Training:
The CP acts as the Labour Organisation (OrTra) for watchmaking and microtechnology professions. It defines the skills and competencies required for various trades based on industry needs. When necessary, the CP also initiates new certified training programmes.

    3. Health and Safety at Work:
The CP issues guidelines and recommendations to ensure health and safety standards are met in the workplace.

    4. Communication:
The CP carries out strong institutional communication campaigns, primarily to promote apprenticeships in watchmaking and micromechanics. These efforts span across traditional and digital media, as well as through the organisation of major events (such as the SwissSkills competition or participation in key watch industry exhibitions).
