Horopedia Foundation for the first time at GWD

Being an important player in preserving watchmaking know-how and knowledge, the Horopedia Foundation will for the first time participate in the Geneva Watch Days.

Horopedia is committed to fostering the development of watchmaking culture and ensuring the longevity of horological craftsmanship. In this regard, the Foundation is pleased to announce its participation in several activities during the Show.

In partnership with the Geneva Watch Days and Geneva Watchmaking School, the Horopedia Foundation will be organising guided tours for watchmaking students. On the morning of August 30, they will have an opportunity to meet with CEOs of the participating brands during a special breakfast event. After that, there will be several visits to selected watchmakers.

This initiative serves as a tangible support of the students’ passion for this craft and the future of our industry.

Charity Auction for Scholarships

Another important event is planned for the evening of August 30. It is a unique charity auction organised thanks to the exceptional collaboration orchestrated by the Geneva Watch Days, Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo, and with the support of the Horopedia Foundation.

The private event with Aurel Bacs at the gavel will provide an opportunity to acquire 15 rare luxury objects or experiences offered by brands and partners. For the first time, money raised during the sales will fund scholarships at the Geneva Watchmaking School.

Being able to benefit from such valuable assistance for the well-being of some of our students represents very tangible support. This will allow them to continue their studies under the best possible conditions. We sincerely thank all those involved in this initiative, as it contributes to supporting future watchmakers and, consequently, the future of our industry“.

Pierre Amstutz

Director of the Geneva Watchmaking School

The lots are provided by Alpina Watches, Arnold & Son and Angelus Watches, BREITLING, Bulgari, Czapek & Cie, FHH – Fondation Haute Horlogerie, GMT Magazine, Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève – GPHG, HAUTLENCE, Konstantin Chaykin, MB&F and H. Moser & Cie., Oris, Phillips in association with Bacs & Russo, Trilobe and URWERK.

Horopedia took part in organising the charity auction, providing communication support, and vast knowledge of the industry and its needs.

The HOROPEDIA Foundation has two goals: to document and share #watchmaking expertise AND to provide opportunities. Although our resources are currently exclusively used for creating content for this immense encyclopaedic project, our intention from the beginning was to be able to assist young watchmakers or adults in continuing #education by granting scholarships. Thanks to our collaboration with the Geneva Watch Days, we are now able to implement this social objective of the Foundation and provide very concrete assistance to students in need to continue their education. A huge thank you to everyone who made this possible“.

Marc André Deschoux

Founder of the Horopedia Foundation

The Charity Auction will be held during the Gala Dinner at the Geneva Watch Days on August 30.
