LATITUDE

Latitude is a geographical coordinate, expressed as an angular value, indicating the position of a point on Earth relative to the equator. All points with the same latitude form a line parallel to the plane of the equator, hence the term parallel as an alternative name. Several astronomical indications, such as the times of sunrise and sunset or the position of the celestial sphere, depend on the latitude from which they are observed.
