SNAIL/DROP CAM

It is a snail-shaped cam, commonly used to regulate the position of the index on movements equipped with a fine adjustment mechanism. Such cams are also used to regulate the striking rhythm in chiming watches (e.g. minute repeaters), in which case the term limaçon is more appropriate than colimaçon.
