GREASES
Greases are paste-like lubricants that consist of mineral oils, synthetic oils and thickeners. Greases may also contain solid additives and lubricants. Greases are used on the steel-steel friction points in the movement.
Grease is used in the watch movement. The areas where it is used are, for example, the barrel shaft subjected to a lot of force or the winding mechanism with only steel-steel parts.
Advantages:
Grease plays the same role as oils, it allows the movement to last over time and allows the parts of the watch to work better together. Grease reduces friction between parts and therefore reduces energy loss, and also reduces wear.
Disadvantages:
Grease has the same defects as oils, it can congeal and above all it deteriorates with time.
