Horopedia updated the website with new videos containing definitions of basic horological terms explained by renowned watchmakers, and a walkthrough of the Vallée de Joux Technical School.
Committed to its educational mission, Horopedia launched a series of short videos about basic horological terms, explained by key players in the industry—the watchmakers. The first four definitions available on the website cover the mainplate, barrel, gear train, and balance wheel. These videos aim to showcase a component, complication, or term as seen by the master watchmaker himself.
In the Schools section, we have added a new video about the Vallée de Joux Technical School, which will be celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2026 and is deeply integrated into the regional industrial fabric.

ABOUT HOROPEDIA
Horopedia Foundation was established in February 2023 and given the status of public interest. Its goal is to contribute to the long-term success and visibility of the watch industry by sharing with the help of modern technologies the horological knowledge, know-how, and technical and artistic skills accumulated over the years, as well as those in the making. The Foundation Council is composed of Philippe Dufour (President), Dr. Helmut Crott, André Colard, and Marc André Deschoux.
