WHIP
The whip is a yoke that triggers a function through a sharp, rapid movement. For example, the balance whip instantly comes into contact with the circumference of the balance when the winding stem is pulled into the time-setting position, stopping the watch so it can be set to the exact second. The dead-seconds whip is in contact with the leaves of the escape pinion. At each step of the escape pinion, the lever is released and makes a full revolution, thereby controlling the jump of the seconds hand (one jump per second).
